Brown soda bread

Ingredients

Method

    Heat oven to 200°C / 400°F and grease a loaf tin.

    Mix the flours, soda, salt and oats in a big bowl.

  3. 3

    Whisk egg, buttermilk and honey, then pour into the dry mix and stir to a wet, sloppy dough.

    Pour into the tin, sprinkle with oats and bake 45 minutes.

    It's done when it sounds hollow underneath. Cool on a rack wrapped in a tea towel.
